Playwright's Drawing Room

- A six month professional development programme for playwrights, in which participants are guided through a first draft of a new play, with guest tutors including actors from productions at Theatre Royal, set designers, other playwrights.

The Projection Room

- A six month feature screenwriting programme. Participants will begin with an eight week treatment writing course where they will develop an original feauture idea through to outline and treatment stage. The next eight sessions, spread over four months, guide you through the process of writing a first draft feature, with structured feedback in groups and individually, and analysis of key scenes and sequences. Come with a creative project or start one, in stunning and inspirational surroundings.
Orange Grove Rural Retreats provide 5 Hours of tuition per day, for six days, plus pilates or yoga, on 3 of the days; cookery demonstration by local chef, gourmet food athalf board; shared or single accommodation ,and optional treatments such as massage payable on site.
Courses also include a free full day trip to Granada and a half day trip to nearby town of Competa, famous for its artistic and Moorish heritage.
Accommodation
Participants stay in single or shared rooms at the Orange Grove or in the local village in charming traditional houses. Prices are based on two people sharing, but single rooms are available at a supplement.
Meals are taken on the terrace with its magnificent views of the Sierra Nevada mountains. In the evenings there are also many options to choose from in local tavernas and restaurants.
Daily Life
The day may begin with pilates or yoga, followed by a writing session between 10.30 – 1.30 pm.After lunch, participants are free to have a siesta, to swim or walk locally, or to have a massage , bookable on site. Between 6-8 participants gather for a creativity session, and evenings are taken up by supper at Orange Grove or at the local village, or in Competa.
All food and accommodation is provided.Courses take place at The Orange Grove, which has a swimming pool and organic orange groves, with stunning mountain views.
Location
Orange GroveRetreats take placea few minutes from the stunning Andalucian town of Competa.
Competa,700 ft above sea level has views of mountains and Mediterranean and is famous for its locally produced wine, both dry and sweet, and for its fiesta, its flower bedecked central square with its sixteenth century church, cobbled streets dating back to Moorish times, and its numerous pubs and tavernas.
Competa is less than an hour from Malaga, half way to the historic province of Granada, in the heart of the magnificent Sierra Nevada mountains.
The Andalucian city of Granada nestles in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, where two rivers converge. The last Moorish city in Spain, Granada has an unique history and an artistic grandeurincorporating both Moorish palaces and Christian renaissance treasures.It has both steepnarrow cobbled streetsbrimming with beautiful nooks and crannies, and the new town on the river. The Alhambra Palace is a world Heritage Site

About The Tutors
Julie Everton is an prize winning writer. She is currently a recipient of Arts Council Funding to write a new play. Her plays have been performed at Royal Court Theatre , Soho Theatre and Chelsea Centre Theatre, as well as on national and regional theatre tours. Her scripts have been broadcast on ITV, Radio 4 and CBBC. She also works as a feature film script editor, including for HBO and in Estonia.She has led creative writing and screenwriting workshops and retreats in England and France for the last 15 years and works with individuals as a creativity coach.
